Guillermo López is a Guatemalan artist who immigrated to the United
States in 1990 at the age of 10. With his active imagination he has
turned his series of good, bad, & ugly experiences into art through
the use of white cut out figurines posted against a black
background. Like a puzzle waiting to be solved, Guillermo lets the
viewers find their own interpretation of his work expressing the
connection of the human mind to the metaphysical world.
As an advocate for gay & immigrant rights Guillermo feels how
crucial art is to the healing process.
Guillermo López resides in Los Angeles and teaches arts & crafts to
at risk youth. He hopes that through his contributions to the art
program entitled Project Phoenix Arts and Crafts Youth Program, he
can get other artists involved in the beauty of immigrants from all
over the world. Regardless of what awaits in the future, he is proud
to be Latino. |
